CyberED privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
CyberED is an app that teaches children aged about 7 to 13 how to stay safe online, in English, Swedish and Arabic. This policy covers the CyberED app for Android, iPhone and iPad. It explains what the app keeps about a child who uses it, where, and how to delete it. It is written for parents and other grown-ups; the short version at the top is for children.
The short version (for children)
- CyberED never asks for your real name, your email, your phone number, your birthday, where you live or a photo of you.
- Everything you do in CyberED is saved only on your device. Nothing about you is sent to us or to anyone else.
- Nobody else can see your progress, your nickname or your Pixel. There are no chats, no friends lists and no ads.
- When you ask CyberED a question, the answer comes from the lessons on your device. Your question is never sent anywhere or saved.
- You can delete everything with "Delete my data" in your profile. Ask a grown-up first if you're not sure.
1. Who is responsible
CyberED is made by Fatima Bayloun, Sweden ("we" in this policy). Contact: info@cyber-ed.app. Please write to us with any question about privacy.
2. What we don't collect
CyberED doesn't ask for or collect a child's real name, email address, phone number, date of birth, home address or location, photos, voice recordings, contacts, or any account with another service. The app doesn't use the microphone, the camera or location.
There is no advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, no analytics service and no in-app purchases. Children can't talk to each other or see each other in CyberED; nothing a child does is shown to anyone else.
In this version of CyberED, the app doesn't send a child's progress, settings, nickname or questions to us or to anyone else. We don't receive, sell or share any information about the children who use it.
3. What is kept on the device
The app saves a child's progress and choices on the phone or tablet itself, so they survive closing the app:
- Progress: which lessons, stories and games were finished and the best scores, XP, level, badges, Treasures (small gifts from the app's character) and Cyber Patrol missions.
- Settings: the nickname the child picks (optional, at most 24 characters), the app language, sound on or off, their Pixel character's colour and accessory, and the badge they chose to show.
- Small notes the app keeps for itself: for example that the Ask notice or the graduation ceremony has already been shown.
This stays on the device, where only the device's user can see it, until "Delete my data" is used, the app's data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. We can't see it.
4. The Ask tab
Children can type a question about staying safe online. The answer comes from the lessons on the device: the question is matched against the lessons in the app itself, and is never sent anywhere, saved or logged. If a question looks urgent, or seems to contain personal information, the app gives a fixed reply telling the child to talk to a trusted grown-up.
5. App stores
Google Play and Apple's App Store may collect information when the app is downloaded or updated, under their own privacy policies. We don't receive information that identifies a child from them.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete everything: Profile → Settings → "Delete my data" deletes everything CyberED keeps on the device, except the language and sound settings. The app then starts again from the beginning. Uninstalling the app also deletes it.
- Questions: write to info@cyber-ed.app.
- Complain: you can complain to the data protection authority in your country. In Sweden that's the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.
7. Children
CyberED is made for children and is designed to collect as little about them as possible. In this version, we don't collect any personal information about the children who use it.
8. Changes
A later version of CyberED may save progress in the cloud, with an anonymous account and no name or email, so that it isn't lost on a new device. It may also add answers written by an AI system in the Ask tab. Before any such change, we will update this policy to explain it, change the date at the top, and tell users in the app. Where the law requires it, we will ask a parent's permission first.
